Soccer in Sun and Shadow, by Eduardo Galeano, a well-known Uruguayan writer and poet -- and you can tell. His imaginings are lyrical, wistful, poetic. Soccer as a metaphor for life, pensive, introspective. Not for hooligans. I read it on a cold, rainy weekend in New York. It made me sigh.
