Ruminations on Beckham

I like David Beckham. Always have. Even though he is, shall we say, a bit dim. Even when he had his hair in cornrows, which looked completely ridiculous and I can't believe he went to see Nelson Mandela that way. And yes, even when he married Posh, of the 600 sunglasses and scary sternum (seriously, Victoria -- EAT!). I was proud when he called the Spanish ref's mom a whore -- in Spanish. Who knew he had such a facility for languages?

I like him because he has a certain innocence about him, because he seems like a nice guy and because though his celebrity sometimes obscures it, he is a pretty damn decent player.

So he doesn't deserve to be kicked off the England team. Oliver Kahn took the same thing with grace, and I suppose Beckham will too. But honestly, after reading this, I think he should say fuck McClaren, I've done my time. Take your hope and shove it.
