First Leg of Carling Cup Semis Ends in a Draw

Arsenal played the first leg of the sem-finals of the Carling Cup, also known as The League Cup, to a 2-2 draw at White Hart Lane.

Julio Baptista ended up with a hatrick in this one scoring two goals for Arsenal and one for Spurs.

Spurs took the lead in the 12 minute of the match with a goal by Berbatov, this was followed up with an own goal on the 20th minute by Baptista. Arsenal went into the second half down 2-0, it wasn't looking good.

Baptista scored 4 goals in the previous Carling Cup victory over Liverpool. In this match he put the first one away in the 64th minute and the second in the 77th minute.

The second leg of the Cup Tie will be played at Ashburton Grove on January 31st. Arsenal need to win or draw 0-0 or 1-1 in order to move onto the finals.

The winner will face Chelsea on February 25th in Cardifff at Millineum Stadium for the final.

The match was supposed to be played at Wembley, but as we all have read, the reconstruction of the new stadium has been nothing but a nightmare. It was supposed to be finished by last May, but doesn't even look like it will be finished this year at all. Tune in and see.
