Cesc crafts winning goal, Theo does well, Domenech needs to GO

Internationals this weekend. The only game I watched all the way through was Spain v. Bosnia-Herzegovina. David Villa missed a (horribly taken) penalty; Cesc started, and he linked with Villa for the goal. Amazing pass into the box, and credit to Villa for an amazing goal. Even the annoying commentator, who kept calling him Chesc and criticizing him, said the play was pure Arsenal -- a "beautiful, piercing ball." Alonso in explicably replaced him at '65, irritating me even though we all know how much I like Alonso, and making Cesc look a bit sulky. The stupid commentators then proceeded to spend the next 10 minutes analyzing why Del Bosque would have subbed him out, but at least they took Cesc's side. (Spain really do play like Arsenal, by the way -- beautiful passing, chance after chance against an okay team and they get one flippin' goal.)
Okay enough of that. We Americans of course couldn't watch the England-Andorra game. But coverage uniformly says that England won 2-0 by playing horribly, and that Theo was one of the very few bright spots. England continues to confound me -- why are they so bad? Here's the Guardian's take. He played on the right, which is good news for us. I, maybe along with everyone else, think that he's on the brink of something, and he just needs to pull the trigger. Hopefully that happens, and soon.
Finally, sigh, France lost 3-1 to Austria. That is just inexcusable. They have so much talent -- not only the old guard of Henry, Gallas, etc., but also the the young guys -- Nasri, Benzema, Ben Arfa. Domenech needs to GO and we need to get in someone like Guus Hiddink. Who, by the way, is someone Arsenal should think about for the post-Wenger world. Come on FFF, fire him.
Belarus lost in the 95th minute to Ukraine on a Sheva penalty. Unbelievable. But since I hate Hleb I couldn't feel too bad. Holland lost to Austrailia (!), but RVP didn't get injured, so I'm thankful.
That's it for now. Let's see if anything exciting happens on Wednesday.
