Friday was my first day home after three weeks on the Obama campaign (hurrah!), and so I was exhausted straight through Saturday morning. Arsenal was the (very) early game, and when I went to get my paper at 9 AM I was terrified of checking my email for updates from Dave -- so I didn't. I mustered up the courage at 11 AM, when I finally woke up for good...and...WE WON. Nasri! No one knew when Arsene signed him in the summer, but I did -- France fan that I am, I knew they were calling him the next Zizou. Okay, he's not there yet, and who knows if he will be, but what a signing he's proved to be. Hleb who?
Not having watched the game, I have no other insight to add, except that that second goal was a doozy. Nasri is on the smaller side, and because of that I think we can forget that he's really strong -- good against defenders, and power on the ball. But I think the best part is his skill on the ball -- he's got great balance (a la Zizou) and I just love it when he fakes defenders out. I was a fan before he was an Arsenal player.
I keep reading about how he and Cesc ran the game on Saturday -- I wonder if this is the start of something big, and lasting. For now, though, who cares -- WE WON.
Also, and just for the record, I hate Rooney.
